Local School Involvement
Solar Sprint
Solar Sprint is a classroom based, hands-on program for middle school students that teaches principles of energy and science and stimulates interest in technology. Using math and science principles, together with creativity, teams of students build small, solar-powered model cars and then pit them against each other in a race. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and endorsed by the National Science Teachers Association.

Sun Power for Schools
Carroll EMC and GreenPower EMC are showcasing the benefits of solar energy through Sun Power for Schools, an educational opportunity for middle and high school classrooms. Through the program, participating schools receive photovoltaic and metering equipment that enables students to study solar power generation and incorporate their unit's output data in classroom projects. Currently, the local participating school is Central Middle School, Carrollton. Any class can participate in the Sun Power for Schools program via online monitoring of a unit at a participating school.
