Washington Youth Tour
Carroll EMC annually selects two local high school students to receive an all-expenses-paid, weeklong educational trip to Washington, D.C., as a participant in the Washington Youth Tour.
Program
Each June, the Washington Youth Tour brings together some 1,400 highly talented, ambitious young people from across the country to experience the nation's capital and further develop their leadership skills. Delegates tour national landmarks, observe the workings of the government, gain knowledge of electric cooperatives, visit with their representatives in Congress, all while meeting new friends. Before departing for Washington, delegates spend time in Atlanta where they meet fellow Georgia delegates, visit with state leaders and see landmarks. All expenses for food, lodging, travel and incidentals are paid for by Carroll EMC.
Eligibility
Students attending a high school in Carroll, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk or Troup County, or those whose primary residence receives electricity from Carroll EMC, are eligible to compete for the next Washington Youth Tour.*
Deadline for submitting applications to Carroll EMC is March 1.
* Children, grandchildren or any close relative of a Carroll EMC employee, Carroll
EMC director or Carroll EMC Foundation trustee must apply for the statewide contest
sponsored by Georgia EMC. Applications are available from Carroll EMC.
