Who: Georgia law requires everyone — including homeowners —to contact Georgia 811 at least 48 hours before beginning any mechanized digging on your property. If you are unsure as to whether you should notify Georgia 811 before you break ground, remember, even if your digging project is small, it’s always best to call!

What: Dial 811

When: Call 48 hours before you dig. Requests are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Why:  Electric cable, gas lines, water lines and waste-water lines could all be present under your property. Hitting these lines could result in injury, property, damage or pollution of the environment. Georgia 811will assist you in choosing a safe site for your excavation activities.
