Smart Saver Switch

It’s a win-win when you have a Smart Saver Switch installed. You’ll receive a discount, while Carroll EMC avoids paying for higher-priced electricity during peak demand periods.

How it works

Carroll EMC installs a small switch on your air conditioning unit and/or heat pump. On very hot or cold days – when electricity demand typically soars —cooperative engineers remotely control the HVAC system during times of high peaks. Once the switch is activated, the units cycle off for 7 minutes each half hour. The fan never stops running, so you should feel little or no temperature change.

How you win

In exchange for installing the switch, you receive a one-time $15 credit PLUS a $2.50 discount on your electric bill each month during the summer.

How your co-op wins

The Smart Saver Switch program allows Carroll EMC to control the amount of electricity being used at any one time. This allows the co-op to avoid buying high-priced electricity at peak-use times. It also reduces the risk of power outages due to excessive demand.
