Green Power

You have the power to help the environment.

You have the power to help the environment by purchasing “green power” — electricity generated from a renewable, more environmentally friendly sources. Green energy purchased through Carroll EMC is currently generated from facilities at two landfill sites and one biomass (wood waste) facility.

About Green Power EMC

Carroll EMC and 37 other Georgia electric cooperatives are Member-owners of Green Power EMC, a cooperative that provides electricity generated by renewable resources. It is the largest operational green power program in the Southeastern United States. Green Power EMC serves its Member EMCs by finding, screening, analyzing and negotiating power purchase agreements with Georgia-based renewable resource providers including solar, landfill gas, hydro, wood waste and wind.

Subscriptions

Carroll EMC Member-owners may purchase green power in “blocks” of 150 kilowatt-hours. One block is enough to operate a refrigerator for one month. A small $5 premium will be added to your monthly bill. The subscription fee offsets the added expense of generating earth-friendly energy. Carroll EMC’s Green Power Program is Green-e Energy certified, and meets the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions.
